The Ilesboro Road Reclamation Project in the West Branch of Raccoon Creek (Hocking County) was completed in the fall of 2019. The standard reclamation project will reduce the acid and metal load entering West Branch from this historic, pre-law surface mine site, thus improving water quality in the headwaters of Raccoon Creek.
A post-construction tour was originally planned for spring 2019, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Virtual tour was created instead! This project was financed in part or totally through a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency through an assistance agreement with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
