Raccoon Creek Partnership once again had a booth at the 19th Ohio Pawpaw Festival September 15-17! This year, we had information about RCP, RCWTA, acid mine drainage impairments and treatment, and the watershed as well as RCP merchandise. We raffled off a kayak, complete with paddle and life jacket, and brought our canoes for festival goers to use.
This year, we sponsored a canoe slalom at the Festival for the first time! The Slalom was a fun buoy race course, challenging not just speed but a paddler’s skills as well. The slalom was open to canoes and kayaks, both solo and tandem for children and adults. Children under nine had to be accompanied by an adult in a boat. Canoes, kayaks, paddles, and life jackets were provided. We held the Slalom at 1:00 pm on Saturday; it was a blast!
We are already looking forward to next year!
