Ohio Erie Excavating, LLC, started working on the Ilesboro Road Reclamation Project at the beginning of February 2018. They are currently clearing and chipping trees from the area to be reclaimed. The chips will be incorporated into the resoil. Once the site is cleared, the ponds, which are acidic strip pits, will be drained and partially filled with resoil and recontoured for better drainage. The spoil will be pre-limed at 20 tons/acre, capped with 1-2 feet of suitable resoil material (from an adjacent borrow area) and revegetated, thus preventing the formation of Acid Mine Drainage (AMD).
